An overview of the Mughal Empire

India at the beginning of the 16th century AD was parcelled out among several independent and warring kingdoms. The lodi dynasty was losing its grip and the warring states were fighting among themselves to grab each other's territory.

The first battle of Panipat 1526AD sealed the fate of the lodi dynasty once for all. According to dr.ishwari prasad the battle of Panipat placed the Empire of Delhi in babur,s hands .the power of lodi dynasty was shattered to pieces and the sovereignty of Hindustan passed to the chaghtai turks.
